Aftercare Tips
Saniderm instructions:
Sandiderm is a self adhesive bandage that acts as a barrier for your new tattoo against outside elements. Please inform me prior to your appointment if you have adhesive allergy.
Over the next 48 hours it is normal for your new tattoo to seep plasma, blood and ink into your bandage. please do not drain the fluid by perforating the barrier film.
-
You may leave your bandage on for 4-7 days
-
Change your bandage after 24 hours if there is a large amount of fluid built up (see saniderm removal instructions below)
-
Upon removal of the bandage wash skin with anti-bacterial, non scented liquid gold dial) in a gentle circular motion. Do not rub your tattoo with force.
-
Place second bandage immediately after you dry the tattoo area. Do not apply ointment.
-
Replace bandage as needed until the tattoo is healed
Saniderm removal:
The bandage can be removed at any time and must be done under warm running water. The easiest way to remove it is in the shower.
Find a corner on the top of the bandage and gently begin to peel it downwards with your finger. Allow the water to hit the top of the bandage as you slowly pull it downwards.

Remove saniderm immediately if:
-
Your skin begins to turn red and become irritated
-
The bandage is itchy
-
Water leaks into the bandage
-
The bandage becomes loose around the tattoo
Pre-appointment care:
24 hours before your appointment be sure to:
-
shower
-
Moisturize with non-scented lotion (like Aveeno)
-
Stay hydrated
-
Have a hearty supper
-
Get a good nights rest

Please avoid:
-
Alcohol in large quantities
-
Super greasy foods
-
caffeine
-
Getting cut/ scraped/ burnt in the area to be tattoed
These things can greatly affect your tattoo experience in terms of pain threshold, blood viscosity, how well the ink settles in the skin ect.
Numbing Cream:
I prefer to be notified of your intention to use numbing cream prior to your appointment.

I do not currently recommend a specific brand of numbing cream nor do I supply it. However, I can help you locate where to purchase some at your own risk.

If you are using numbing cream, always read the ingredient list and please test it in a small area that will not be tattooed. You must do this to ensure you will not have an allergic reaction or obtain a chemical burn during your appointment or while healing. DO NOT use expired numbing cream and follow the manufacture's directions precisely.

I am not responsible for any healing complications or other problems you may experience from usuage of numbing cream. Use these products at your own risk. It is extremely important that you follow the manufacturer directions and read the ingredients.
Fun fact: Numbing cream changes the texture of your skin and your artist can almost always tell when you have it on.
